starry nightEveryone loves a good stargazing session, but Flagstaff, Arizona has some of the best options in the entire United States—and the entire world. Its dry climate and relatively sparse population make for excellent nighttime viewing, especially if you know where to go. Here are a few of the best options to put on the bucket list.

The Grand Canyon

If you’re lucky enough to get to go to the Star Party, you’ll see some truly amazing sights. With a telescope, you can see star clusters, planets and distant galaxies, with the odd nebula thrown in for effect. It’s a can’t-miss experience. Of course, the Grand Canyon is an excellent option for stargazing any other time of the year as well, and only about an hour and a half from Flagstaff.

Lowell Observatory

Whoever said stargazing had to be outdoors? Lowell Observatory is a non-profit research institution dedicated to scientific progress and astronomy education, and its huge telescopes are truly amazing to behold. Get a good look at those stars by booking a tour or a private group event.

Buffalo Park

Another fantastic wilderness space is Buffalo Park. Removed from the muted city lights of Flagstaff, it is a perfect spot for witnessing the Milky Way in all its glory. Plus, it has its own annual star party, complete with sunset tours, naked-eye viewing and 30 telescopes for getting up close and personal with the cosmos.

Your Own Backyard

Ever since the observatory was established back in the '80s, Flagstaff has worked hard to keep its skies dark, in order to facilitate excellent viewing. That means on most clear nights, you can simply step outside and watch those twinkling lights pop out one by one, then roll across the heavens. Try it next time you’re bored for the evening; you might be surprised.

Nothing makes apartment living a blast like having access to so many natural wonders nearby. If you’re looking to spend some time enjoying Mother Nature’s marvels, stargazing is the way to go. Come learn more about the opportunities near you, as well as the many other amenities our Flagstaff apartments at Country Club Terrace have to offer. We look forward to making you a part of the family!

Spring Potted PlantIt's always good to get outside no matter the season, but spring especially beckons the pale to embrace the weather in their corner of the world. For those living in Flagstaff apartments, check out these 5 events for a little excitement.

Meet an Astronomer

On April 15 this year, meet Dr. Llama at Lowell at Lowell Observatory to ask questions and learn more about the wonders of space.

Spring Dance Festival

Attend the Spring Dance Festival at E. White Theater on May 5 and 6, and marvel at the grace and agility of the performers. If you get inspired, dust off your dancing shoes and head to the Galaxy Diner for a free swing dancing lesson on Saturday nights this spring.

Zuni Festival

On May 27 and 28, learn more about the art and culture of the Zuni people. You'll find more than 50 artists there, as well as lecturers, dancers, musicians and even documentaries. This festival is held at the Museum of Northern Arizona, and you won't want to miss it.

Wild & Scenic Film Festival

On April 1, visit The Orpheum Theater to catch the nature films you won't see on the Discovery Channel. This festival honors the great outdoors and introduces you to a way of life you may know little about.

Hullabaloo

Rounding out your springtime activities is this spring festival that's both fun and funky. Celebrating local culture from families to starving artists, this is a great way to meet your neighbors of just stop by to see what Flagstaff is all about. The festival takes place on June 3 and 4 at Wheeler Park.

Flagstaff is full of people who love being active, so get out and join everyone. If you're looking at the apartment in Flagstaff for a new place to call your own, call Country Club Terrace to see how we encourage our community to make the most of their neighborhood today.

The Center for Disease Control recommends that kids get a minimum of one hour of physical activity each day.  Why not make it a family affair on these hiking trails located just minutes from our Country Club Terrace apartments in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Old Caves Crater Trail

This 2.4-mile route is perfect for a day trip with the family.  Pack a lunch and spend some time exploring the caves before heading back home.

Fat Man’s Loop

Don’t let the name fool you; you’re sure to get your exercise on the 2.5-mile trail.  The trail gets its name from a tight squeeze between the boulders along the trail’s path.  You’ll enjoy splendid views of Mt. Elden’s lava cliffs and Doney Park.

Lamar Haines Loop

For a trip that’s a little less lengthy, head out to the Veit Springs Trail and Lamar Haines Loop.  There are plenty of little places to explore along the way including the site of Ludwig Veit’s cabin, in addition to rock pictographs and other natural wonders.

Trek to the Top of Slate Mountain

The trail is a little longer than five miles round-trip, but the view at the top makes it all worthwhile.  Once you reach the summit, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the northern rim of the Grand Canyon, San Francisco peaks and Kendrick mountain. This is a perfect spot to enjoy a picnic lunch with the kids before your return trip.

Red Mountain Trail

Ever seen a natural amphitheater? You’ll enjoy exploring one along the Red Mountain Trail. If you have small children, be ready to give them a boost at the short ladder you encounter just before the end of the trail.

Exercise can be a fun family event with one of these day trip adventures to explore some of Arizona’s natural wonders.

Summer's in full swing, and now's the time to spend your free time enjoying the pool in our Flagstaff apartment community. If your friends and family are tired of just splashing around in the water, try one of these games to liven up the afternoon.

Diving for Pennies

Empty out that change jar and have some sunny fun. Have everyone stand on the edge of the pool facing away from the water. Toss handfuls of change into the pool, then let everyone jump in and find the coins. The one who finds the most money wins.

Noodle Jousting

Make two teams, with two players on each team. Let each team sit on a raft and use pool noodles as jousting swords to knock each other off their rafts.

Wet T-Shirt Relay Race

Break into two teams, with each team lined up against the pool. First player on each team puts on an oversized t-shirt, then swims across the pool and back. They then have to take off the wet t-shirt and hand it off. Player two has to put on the wet shirt and swim the same laps. The team with all the players completing their laps wins.

Water Ballet Contest

Put some music out by the pool, and have each player make up a water ballet dance to one song. They can be funny, athletic or just weird, depending on the swimmer. Let the audience decide the winners.

Marco Polo

In this classic pool game, the person who is "it" closes her eyes and counts to a designated number. All the other players scatter, going wherever they want in the water. When the count is over, the player who is "it" tries to find everyone else while keeping his eyes closed. When they yell out "Marco," everyone must answer back "Polo!" The player who is caught gets to be "it" next.

Summertime is a lot more enjoyable with a cool, sparkling pool available whenever you feel like a swim. Give our office a call and make an appointment to tour our neighborhood and see how living here can add to your quality of life.
