Homemade Pudding Recipes
Traditional Homemade Chocolate Pudding
It’s easy to get distracted by oodles of fancy pudding ideas and leave behind the ones that are mainstays. While creative recipes are exciting, having a go-to chocolate pudding option is a must in any family.
Gather These Ingredients
- 3 cups of whole milk
- ¾ cup of pure cane sugar
- 3 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- 4 ounces of 80 percent or higher dark chocolate (chopped)
- 2 tablespoons of butter (sliced)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
How to Make
Whisk sugar, salt, cornstarch, cocoa, and milk in a saucepan over medium heat until mixture thickens and ingredients are fully integrated. Once it is thoroughly blended and bubbles from the heat, add chocolate, vanilla, and butter. Continue to whisk until these ingredients are fully melted.
For smooth pudding, strain into bowls to remove lumps. If you prefer the traditional texture, pour directly into bowls. This recipe can be served warm, or let it stand for 15 minutes and then refrigerate.
Pudding Tip: When whisking in a saucepan, do not increase heat above medium to speed up the process. This may result in burning and poor-tasting pudding.
Quick Classic Tapioca
Although many pudding lovers lean on chocolate or vanilla, tapioca is also one of the finest traditional puddings. This easy-to-make recipe offers hosts a quick dessert option worthy of praise.
Gather These Ingredients
- 3 cups of whole milk
- ½ cup of fast-cooking tapioca
- ½ cup of granulated sugar
- Pinch of sea salt
- 2 eggs (beaten)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
How to Make
In a saucepan, whisk milk, tapioca, sugar, and salt. Then, bring it to a boil on medium heat. Whisk steadily for 5 minutes following the boiling point. Beat the eggs in a bowl and scoop 1 cup of the warm mixture and blend separately. Once thoroughly mixed, pour it into the saucepan and stir until pudding thickens. Remove the pan from heat and stir in vanilla. Serve warm or cold.

Are you a fan of prepackaged fresh ravioli? That’s not surprising. If you're like most people, you can whip up a quick and delicious meal simply by adding a traditional red sauce to your cooked ravioli. Of course, that can get boring after a while. So why not try one of these easy ravioli dishes instead:
Two Easy and Tasty Dishes to Make With Prepackaged Ravioli
Baked Cheesy Ravioli
- 1 jar tomato pasta sauce
- 1 package ravioli
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- Cooking spray oil
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook the ravioli until they are still al dente. Spray the sides and bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan with cooking oil spray. Spread three-fourths of the pasta sauce on the bottom of the baking dish. Place half of your cooked ravioli in a single layer over the sauce. Top with the leftover sauce and one cup of the mozzarella. Repeat the layers and top with Parmesan cheese. Bake 20 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
Pan-Fried Ravioli in Vodka Sauce
- 1 package of ravioli (your choice of filling)
- 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 25-ounce jar vodka pasta sauce
- 3/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Cook ravioli according to the package directions, and drain. In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil and half a tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add half of the ravioli and cook for about four minutes until both sides are golden brown. Remove to a platter. Cook the remaining ravioli in the remaining butter and one tablespoon of the oil. Move the ravioli to the platter. Add a tablespoon of oil and the garlic to the skillet and cook for about 45 seconds or until the garlic is tender. Stir in the vodka pasta sauce until thoroughly heated. Pour sauce over pasta, sprinkle with cheese and serve.
