The holidays are coming! At this time of year, there's often a lot of excitement. Special decorations go up, special foods are put on the table, and holiday activities begin. If you're a pet owner, this season can bring challenges. Keeping up with your cat or dog's health can be difficult. These three tips can help you through the holiday season.
Get Help With Walks
If you have a dog, it needs to go out for a walk at least once each day, even if you're busy with holiday events. To keep up with your dog's exercise needs, hire a professional to take your dog for walks at midday, or get help from other members of your household. Make a schedule that calls for each person in your home to take turns walking the dog.
Put Holiday Sweets and Decorations Out of Reach
Holiday sweets, especially chocolate, fudge, and anything that contains baker's chocolate can be toxic for pets. If your pet is large or clever enough to access foods on the counter of your kitchen, keep these baked goods in containers with secure lids. Educate anyone who comes to visit about the importance of not feeding your pet human foods. For a full list of human foods that could cause your pet to get sick, talk to your pet's veterinarian. Put holiday decorations out of reach as well so they aren't damaged, and to prevent hazards caused by knocking them over.
Avoid Toxic Holiday Plants
Some holiday plants, including holly, mistletoe, and poinsettias, are toxic for pets. If you like having these plants around the house, keep them out of your pet's reach, or use artificial plants instead. If someone gives you a plant as a gift, find out from your pet's veterinarian if that type of plant is also toxic.

Spending time with your friends and loved ones is a big part of what the holidays are all about. Eating good food and playing fun games is the best way to have fun and make memories during the holidays! These are just a few games to try this year during the holiday season.
Fun Holiday Games
Holiday-Themed Charades
You can create a fun new twist on charades by tying it to the holiday that you are celebrating. All it takes is a bit of brain power to think of some holiday phrases to use, or you can find some online for a bit of inspiration. Charades is always a crowd-pleaser!
Holiday Mad Libs
This fun game of fill in the blank will have you laughing all night long. You can find holiday Mad Libs online, or create your own by simply making everyone use holiday-themed words to fill in some standard Mad Libs. Either should work fine, and you will have some great laughs and memories made along the way.
Holiday Bingo
No matter the holiday, you can make a bingo game out of it. To play this game, just think of some things that you can use for bingo and then make some bingo cards. Get everyone in on the game, and watch people try to get to bingo as soon as they can. This holiday game, like the others, does involve some creativity, but you may also be able to find some ideas online to make it easier to design holiday bingo cards that everyone will enjoy playing.
Holiday games are a great way to bring loved ones together and make some quality memories. You can plan special holiday game nights or enjoy holiday games anytime throughout the season. If you are looking for a new place to call home and host these games, be sure to check out our Flagstaff apartments today.
