Homemade pudding is a delightful and comforting dessert. The best part about pudding? It's oh so easy to make! We hope our Country Club Terrace community members in Flagstaff, Arizona, enjoy these to-die-for pudding recipes.
Homemade Pudding Recipes
Traditional Homemade Chocolate Pudding
It’s easy to get distracted by oodles of fancy pudding ideas and leave behind the ones that are mainstays. While creative recipes are exciting, having a go-to chocolate pudding option is a must in any family.
Gather These Ingredients
- 3 cups of whole milk
- ¾ cup of pure cane sugar
- 3 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- 4 ounces of 80 percent or higher dark chocolate (chopped)
- 2 tablespoons of butter (sliced)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
How to Make
Whisk sugar, salt, cornstarch, cocoa, and milk in a saucepan over medium heat until mixture thickens and ingredients are fully integrated. Once it is thoroughly blended and bubbles from the heat, add chocolate, vanilla, and butter. Continue to whisk until these ingredients are fully melted.
For smooth pudding, strain into bowls to remove lumps. If you prefer the traditional texture, pour directly into bowls. This recipe can be served warm, or let it stand for 15 minutes and then refrigerate.
Pudding Tip: When whisking in a saucepan, do not increase heat above medium to speed up the process. This may result in burning and poor-tasting pudding.
Quick Classic Tapioca
Although many pudding lovers lean on chocolate or vanilla, tapioca is also one of the finest traditional puddings. This easy-to-make recipe offers hosts a quick dessert option worthy of praise.
Gather These Ingredients
- 3 cups of whole milk
- ½ cup of fast-cooking tapioca
- ½ cup of granulated sugar
- Pinch of sea salt
- 2 eggs (beaten)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
How to Make
In a saucepan, whisk milk, tapioca, sugar, and salt. Then, bring it to a boil on medium heat. Whisk steadily for 5 minutes following the boiling point. Beat the eggs in a bowl and scoop 1 cup of the warm mixture and blend separately. Once thoroughly mixed, pour it into the saucepan and stir until pudding thickens. Remove the pan from heat and stir in vanilla. Serve warm or cold.

Are you a fan of prepackaged fresh ravioli? That’s not surprising. If you're like most people, you can whip up a quick and delicious meal simply by adding a traditional red sauce to your cooked ravioli. Of course, that can get boring after a while. So why not try one of these easy ravioli dishes instead:
Two Easy and Tasty Dishes to Make With Prepackaged Ravioli
Baked Cheesy Ravioli
- 1 jar tomato pasta sauce
- 1 package ravioli
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- Cooking spray oil
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook the ravioli until they are still al dente. Spray the sides and bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan with cooking oil spray. Spread three-fourths of the pasta sauce on the bottom of the baking dish. Place half of your cooked ravioli in a single layer over the sauce. Top with the leftover sauce and one cup of the mozzarella. Repeat the layers and top with Parmesan cheese. Bake 20 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
Pan-Fried Ravioli in Vodka Sauce
- 1 package of ravioli (your choice of filling)
- 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 25-ounce jar vodka pasta sauce
- 3/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Cook ravioli according to the package directions, and drain. In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil and half a tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add half of the ravioli and cook for about four minutes until both sides are golden brown. Remove to a platter. Cook the remaining ravioli in the remaining butter and one tablespoon of the oil. Move the ravioli to the platter. Add a tablespoon of oil and the garlic to the skillet and cook for about 45 seconds or until the garlic is tender. Stir in the vodka pasta sauce until thoroughly heated. Pour sauce over pasta, sprinkle with cheese and serve.

Fresh herbs are a wonderful way to add taste while reducing calories and sodium levels in salads, marinated meats and more. Residents of Flagstaff apartments who are looking to enjoy a healthy lifestyle and a whole food diet, including fresh herbs, can help reduce inflammation and pack more flavor into every mouthful of food. Here are some tips for creating an herb garden in your Flagstaff apartment:
Growing Herbs on a Balcony
- Start with common herbs. Herbs that will be placed in potted plants need drainage. Therefore, it is important that any pot chosen has one or more drainage holes. A drip tray or small plate placed underneath can help catch excess water. Both annual and perennial herb types may be grown. Easy common herbs to start planting include basil, rosemary and dill.
- Know the lighting requirements. It is possible to grow herbs on a balcony. Herbs need to be placed in an area that can receive a minimum of six hours of sunlight daily. Pots should be rotated weekly and fertilized on a monthly basis.
- Enjoy herbs throughout the year. It is possible to harvest leaves from both perennial and annual herbs for year-round enjoyment. Harvest leaves as needed and freeze the excess for later use. The best time to harvest leaves is while a plant is actively growing.
Reduce sodium levels in favorite dishes without losing flavor with the addition of fresh herbs.

The average family throws away as much as $1,600 per year in food waste from their Flagstaff apartments. Changing your strategy when it comes to food preparation and meal prep can help you save a lot of money and will prevent you from throwing out so many leftovers.
Money-Saving Food Tips
1. Shop More Often. If you take the time to make more frequent trips to the grocery store and buy less when you are there, you will be less likely to buy excess food. Produce tends to go bad because we all buy too much of it and it wilts before being eaten. Shopping for about three or four meals in advance can prevent you from having to throw out wasted food.
2. Meal Plans with Leftovers. Incorporate leftovers into your weekly meal plans. If you live with picky eaters, give them a simple meal like mac and cheese while you finish off the leftovers. Many potatoes, vegetables and other leftovers can easily be incorporated into a stew or soup.
3. Preserve Foods. If you end up preparing more food than you need for a meal, package the extra and store it in the freezer. This way you'll have a quick and easy meal that can be microwaved at a future date. Plus, you won't have to throw anything out.
4. Buy Less Fresh Produce. Loading up on produce when it is on sale seems like a good idea, but if it does not get eaten, you will end up throwing it away. Try to plan your meals so that extra produce doesn't go to waste. Buy only what you need or what you can preserve, so you don't have to throw anything out.
Saving money and letting less food go to waste are both wonderful goals to set. If you have any family members or friends looking for apartments in Flagstaff, be sure to have them contact Country Club Terrace to see the floor plans that we still have available.

]]>1. Eggplant
Eggplant does not always come to the top of the list, but there is a reason why so many different cultures have their signature eggplant dishes. Try it in a stir fry, eggplant parmesan, or a Middle Eastern-inspired eggplant dip, and know you are getting fiber and antioxidants.
2. Cauliflower
Cauliflower is rich in fiber, vitamin C, and folate. You can use it as a low-carb substitute for a variety of foods, such as mashed potatoes, fried rice, and even pizza crust. For a greater range of nutrients, flavors, and textures, experiment with green, red, and orange cauliflower, too.
3. Spinach
Spinach is an incredibly versatile choice that provides magnesium, iron, and vitamins A and C. You can add it to eggs, casseroles, lasagna, and soup. Kale, collard greens, and other greens are also nutritionally dense, and as easy to use as spinach.
4. Winter Squash
Acorn, kabocha, butternut, and other types of winter squash are available year round. They are good sources of potassium and vitamin A. Use them to thicken soups, or make them a centerpiece of a meal by stuffing them with a nutritious filling made with brown rice or quinoa.
5. Apples
Apples are high in dietary fiber and low in calories when compared to sweet desserts. Apples are delicious when they are raw and crunchy, but you can also cook them. Pair stewed apples with Greek yogurt to finish off your meal, or serve baked apples with cinnamon for a dessert on their own.
