Carpet and rug stains aren't just an eyesore, they can lead to unpleasant smells in your apartment and can cost you your deposit when you decide to move. The good news is that you don't typically have to shell out hundreds or even thousands of dollars for carpet cleaning if you act fast when you see something spill. Quickly apply these great home remedies for carpet stains to get your apartment feeling and smelling as good as new:
Home Remedies for Cleaning Carpet Stains
- Know the blotting technique. Perhaps the most important thing to know about stain removal is that you need to act fast and work to remove a stain as soon as it happens. Do not allow it to sit overnight if you can. The second-most important thing to know is that the removal technique is just as important as the removal product. Whenever you approach a carpet stain, always use a blotting technique, which means you take your sponge or dishrag and dab or blot at the stain. Never scrub or rub at a stain, as this frequently will only cause the staining particulates to spread and become more enmeshed with the carpet fibers.
- White vinegar plus baking soda. White vinegar is an acidic compound that is great for counteracting liquid spills and stains caused by things like chocolate. While the white vinegar counteracts, breaks down, and helps to remove the staining compound, the baking soda will absorb and neutralize any odors. To use this home remedy, mix equal parts vinegar and baking soda for a paste solution that can be blotted directly onto the stain.

Moving into a comfortable apartment in Flagstaff can make life easier. But if it creates stress, these tips can help!
1: Why Do People Get Moving Stress?
The simple answer is “the unknown.” We all have a little apprehension about letting go of the control we have over our daily routines. Moving represents a significant break. Once it’s over, you will wake up in a new space. If this gives you pause, keep in mind that you’ll establish new routines quickly.
2: Knowledge Can Help Overcome Moving Anxiety
Knowledge tends to be a powerful elixir when everyday people are worried about the unknown. If you are new to Flagstaff or the neighborhood, conducting an online search of things to do and great eateries may prove helpful. The area offers plenty of outdoor attractions, shopping, history, and culture. By discovering things you enjoy doing locally, you’ll have a go-to list that allows you to plan. Knowledge isn’t just power. It’s also peace of mind.
3: Get Rid of Excess Stuff
Moving a ton of items that you hardly use can be cumbersome and unnecessary. Consider getting rid of some of them to lighten the load. Make a little cash by selling old junk. Turn cool items you’re willing to part with into gifts. Valuable heirlooms may be welcome by family members and loved ones. And if you have bulky furniture you aren't going to use but are not ready to part with — just yet — self-storage tends to be a reasonable way to house items.
4: Moving Day Organization Helps Ease Stress
By boxing and labeling your belongings in advance, transitioning can be more seamless. For example, labeling where each item goes in your great new space minimizes unpacking times. One mental health trick some people leverage has to do with morning-after items. Have that coffee pot or breakfast ready to go and you can start your first day feeling more comfortable.
We hope future residents of Country Club Terrace enjoy these tips. If you or a friend would like more information about our Flagstaff apartments, call us today.

Whether you are a native Arizona resident or a newfound transplant, as a new resident of a Flagstaff apartment, you might want to embrace that ‘desert’ feel in your new abode. The hues and decor of the Southwest go a bit outside of the norm, so we offer you these tips for creating a vibe that resembles what this part of the nation is all about.
Earth Tones are Dominant
Warm reds, cactus greens, and earthy browns can be incorporated into furnishings, draped blankets, and decorative pillows as an easy and affordable addition to existing pieces. Essentially, you will want to go for a combination of modern aesthetics and a natural, ‘rustic’ feel. Think leather furniture, wooden benches, and clever curtains.
Go Bold in the Home
Big, bold prints can be welcomed into your apartment in Flagstaff easily with large floor rugs or wall tapestries that add an immediate splash of color to the environment without the need for creating big holes in walls. What better way to bring southwestern art into the home without spending big bucks or causing damage?
Bedding Ideas
Even if no guests ever see the environment of your bedroom, it’s an ideal place to truly embrace the Southwestern concept. While you can’t paint walls, you certainly can dress up the bed with traditional Southwestern-style bedding with bright colors and rich patterns that get you into the spirit of things. Invest in a locally made quilt or comforter, consider a dream catcher, add faux skulls of native animals, and get a few complementary pillows. Stylish and inviting: what more can you want from a nighttime respite?

There are many types of vacuum cleaners, but not all are best for cleaning in an apartment. As an apartment resident, you know that space is often at a premium. No one wants their apartment packed with more than is necessary. Learn more about the following types of vacuums, so that you'll know which are efficient but won't take up a lot of room in your Flagstaff apartment.
Canister Vacuums
A canister vac has a canister that sits on the floor. A hose and vacuum head are connected to it. When you use this type, you roll the wheeled canister after you as you clean. However, this is one of the vacuum types that can take up the most floor space. They tend to have large canisters as well as a lot of hose to take care of. Many apartment residents simply find them too bulky to use and store.
Upright Vacuums
An upright vacuum is all one unit, and it's considerably taller than a canister vac. However, the upright structure may be rather large. In addition, these are among the loudest vacuum types. They have a steady roar that can make you feel nervous about using them, especially if you have a lot of shared walls.
Stick Vacuums
A stick vac uses the same basic form as an upright vacuum. However, they are much smaller in diameter. The term "stick" describes them perfectly: they look like a stick with a vacuum head at one end. They are extremely easy to store, as they are thin enough to put them virtually anywhere. They also tend to be quieter than both canister and upright vacuum types. These come in both cordless style and corded. The cordless style is especially great for easy use and storage.
In our apartments in Flagstaff, a stick vac will probably be your best bet for using the space well and keeping your home tidy. However, our floor plans offer a lot of room for you to store all of your items, so you shouldn't be discouraged if you have a different type on hand. If you're looking for a new place to live, give us a call today to find out what is currently and soon-to-be, available!

Strawberries are certainly abundant in the summertime. However, just because there's a lot of them, doesn't mean you always have plans for them. Below are some fun ideas so that you can use up what you have and potentially enjoy this sweet fruit all-year-round.
Make Jam
As easy as it is to say that you'll come up with plenty of dessert and dinner recipes, why not clear out the majority of your stock by making jam? All you really need is sugar and fruit (and maybe a little lemon juice.) You'll be glad you have it when it comes time to dress up your toast on all the upcoming fall and winter days.
Sweeten Your Beverages
Water, soda, lemonade: they all taste better when there's a strawberry at the bottom of the glass. Try freezing your strawberries and using them instead of ice. Not only will the flavor release while keeping the drink cold, but you won't have to worry about a regular beverage being watered down. And while they might be relevant for wintertime drinks, they'll still be a welcome reminder that the season won't last forever.
Try Roasting
Roasted strawberries are great in ice cream, custards, and strudel. When you roast strawberries, you're letting the water content out and increasing the sweetness of the fruit. If you place them in a batch of frozen yogurt, they're going to stay soft rather than turn icy. This trick can preserve your strawberries for months if you keep them in the refrigerator.
Flagstaff apartments are better when you take advantage of everything that summer has to offer. If you're looking for a place where you can hang your hat, contact Country Club Terrace today to learn more about our floor plans and amenities. We have the kitchens that will make it easy for you to start taking your strawberry preserving game to a whole new level.

For people who love to read, there’s no better joy than to share favorite books and discuss each one. Book clubs are ideal for this kind of sharing. When you can’t be with your bookworm friends in person, an online book club organized from your apartment in Flagstaff is a great alternative. Here’s how to organize one.
Choose an Online Platform
You’ll need to find an online platform that supports voice, chat and/or video. One of the most popular ones right now is Zoom, which is free for users who only need an hour. There are other platforms available, too.
Choose Your First Book
Next, you’ll need to choose the first book to discuss. Goodreads offers book club support, with a wide range of reading suggestions depending on which books you’ve enjoyed in the past. Most book-club hosts pick three books so the group members can decide which one they’d like to read and discuss.
Decide on a Schedule
Most book clubs meet up once a week or twice a month, but the schedule you choose will depend on everyone’s availability. Make a shared 30-day calendar in Google docs and ask everyone to block out the dates and times they are NOT available. This will enable you to make up a schedule where everyone is free to virtually attend.
Get RSVPs
Next, finalize the schedule with everyone and get their RSVPs. One easy and cute way to do this is through Evite. Consider sending out a “save the date” invitation. Don’t forget to name the book everyone is supposed to have read by the time the virtual club meets!
Make up a List of Questions
After everyone has had a chance to read the book (two weeks is typical), make up a list of questions to discuss. Some books have a list at the back. Don’t feel like you have to stick to the questions. These are just in case there’s a lull in the conversation.
An online book club is a great way to connect with friends when you can’t meet in person. If you’d like more information about our apartments in Flagstaff, please get in contact with us. They're the perfect peaceful place to read!

Getting a good night’s sleep as often as possible is an important part of making sure you stay healthy and reduces your risk of getting sick. If you have trouble getting enough sleep or getting good quality sleep, keep the following sleep tips in mind.
Create a Comfortable Sleeping Environment
The environment you sleep in can have an impact on how much rest you get. Your bedroom should be a comfortable temperature that isn’t too hot, so plan on turning up the air conditioning or using a fan to stay cool as needed. You should also keep your bedroom as dark as possible. To ensure that you're getting a good night's rest, check your mattress as well. You should shop around for a new one if you’ve been sleeping on a mattress that is worn. A new mattress can offer better support and more comfort, which should improve your sleep.
Avoid Screens Before Bedtime
Staring at a phone, tablet, or TV screen before bedtime can make it harder for you to fall asleep. Depending on what you’re doing, such as watching a video or playing a game, these devices can give you too much mental stimulation when your brain should be less active. You should do a calmer or quieter activity, such as reading a book, within a couple of hours of going to bed. Focusing on this type of activity helps your brain settle down before bedtime, which should help you fall asleep more easily.
Exercise During the Day
Physical activity can help you sleep better at night. Doing a workout earlier in the day can wear you out so that you’re able to get plenty of sleep later on. Keep in mind that you should avoid vigorous physical activity in the evening or close to bedtime, as it may actually increase your energy levels.

Even if you try to eat healthy most of the time, when you want fast food, you want fast food. An inch-thick burger with grilled onions is great, but … it's just not the same as drive-thru. Luckily, there are some simple tricks you can use to replicate your favorite fast-food recipes right in the comfort of your Flagstaff apartment home.
Drive-Thru Style Burgers
There's only a few things you need to know about making fast-food style burgers:
- To get those flat patties, you want to press the beef so that it's thinner in the middle than on the edges. This way when it bunches up, it won't rise too high.
- After putting your burger on the bun, wrap it up in a paper towel and microwave it for just ten or fifteen seconds. This is how you get those warm buns and perfectly melted cheese.
- Most secret sauces are just thousand island dressing. Sometimes restaurants add a little Worcestershire sauce or extra pickles, but that's really all there is to it.
Fast Food Fries
Drive-thru style fries are a little trickier, but they can be done at home.
- Slice your potatoes thin, about a quarter inch.
- Mix 1/8 cup of sugar and 1 cup of hot water per medium-sized potato, and soak your fries in the mixture for a half hour. Some restaurants use beef bullion in their mix.
- Drain and dry your potatoes on a paper towel. Heat your oil up (shortening is the most common fast food fryer oil).
- Once your oil is up to around 375 degrees, carefully add the fries to the pan, and cook them for just a minute or so.
- Remove fries, and once they've cooled, freeze them.
Now you'll have your fries ready to go whenever you like. They should take about 5 minutes to fry to a golden brown. Salt to taste.
If you're looking for a place to do some experimenting in the kitchen, get in touch with Country Club Terrace and ask about the available floor plans at our apartments in Flagstaff, AZ.

Maybe you don't have a lot of pantry ingredients to begin with. Maybe you prefer recipes that highlight core ingredients rather than distracting with unnecessary supporting players. Whatever your reasoning is for wanting to pare down your recipe lists in your Flagstaff apartment, we have some suggestions that will knock your socks off.
Creamy Pesto and Kale Pasta
Pesto, cream cheese, kale, and red onions (plus the pasta) are all you need for this easy and relatively healthy supper. Fry the onions, wilt the kale, and then add pesto and cream cheese to your cooked pasta. If you've got some garlic bread, feel free to add a couple of slices for an easy way to sop up the sauce. It couldn't be simpler and takes just 35 minutes (including prep).
Blistered Green Beans and Garlic
Green beans, garlic, capers, red pepper flakes, and extra-virgin olive oil come together for the char you crave. While you may be tempted to forget the side dishes in favor of the main event, this healthy addition can make it a lot more pleasurable to get your veggies in for the day.
Chicken Noodle Stir Fry
Before you order take-out for the fifth night this week alone, try this chicken noodle stir fry that will be ready in just 16 minutes. Peanuts, black bean sauce, chicken breast, broccoli, and egg noodles are all you need for this one, though feel free to substitute seafood (e.g., shrimp, salmon, etc.) if you're looking to use up what's in your freezer. Stir-fries are more than just fool-proof recipes for cooks of all levels, they're fun to do once you get the hang of it.
Whether you love to cook or you merely tolerate it as a means to an end, taking time to prepare food is as good for your mind as it is for your body. If you're looking for a place that understands the importance of doing things for yourself, call Country Club Terrace to learn about our amenities.

You love your cat, and you're pretty sure it kind of likes you because of the purring and occasional lap visits. An indoor cat can be a great addition to your Flagstaff apartment, but keeping an indoor cat happy can take a bit of effort. Take a look at a few tips you can use to make sure your inside kitty is just as happy as what it would be outdoors.
Invest in a DIY Cat Tree
In the wild, cats are natural climbers. An indoor cat with a need to climb may get antsy and try to scale the curtains or your furniture, so it is always best if you provide them something that is safe to climb. A cat tree can be found at just about any pet store, but you can also create your own with a few supplies and a little imagination. The Spruce offers some cat-worthy DIY options that will work just fine.
Don't Forget to Play
Cats, like dogs, love to play. They like to stalk, hide, and even swat. It is not at all uncommon for cats in the wild to do things sheerly for entertainment. Therefore, playtime with your kitty is really important.
Put Out Some Cat Grass
Bring a bit of nature indoors for your cat to enjoy. Cat grass is a bland grass that cats actually like to lounge in and nibble. You can pick up seeds really cheap, plop them in a large planter, and give kitty a bit of indoor nature.
Add Variety to Food Options
Yes, it is best if your cat has a good stable diet of kibble. However, introducing the occasional treat or spoonful of canned wet food is always encouraged. Some cats are particular about what they munch, but most will appreciate some occasional variety.
Walk Your Kitty
Cat leashes and harnesses are a thing. Even if it takes your kitty a bit of getting used to, they will learn to enjoy outdoor time while on a leash. Cats can slip out of a collar and leash rather easily, however, so a harness does work best.
